Robert Moir and Dr. Mary Strum - Executive Producers and the parents behind "Time to Sing!"
The songs on this recording have all been newly arranged. The words are much slower than the originals, but the music is fun, exciting, playful, and beautiful. In fact, most kids won't even notice that the words are slower. The speed of each song was set by the eminent speech-language pathologist, David Hammer, who also edited some of the lyrics to eliminate difficult sound combinations and enable all children to sing along. The songs were all brilliantly arranged by composer Michael Moricz, former Music Director of Mister Rogers' Neighborhood, and are fun and rewarding for kids and their parents, too! They cover a wide variety of styles and settings, featuring thirteen singers, musicians for the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and Benedum Orchestra, and fifteen young children. We hope your children enjoy these fresh new looks at classic songs, now that they have time...to sing!

Robert Moir, Artistic Administrator, Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, Dr. Mary Strum, Shadyside Hospital

Michael Moricz - Producer
Music for Time to Sing!™ was arranged, programmed, conducted and produced by Michael Moricz who at the time was the Resident Composer and Associate Conductor with Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre; ballets include The Great Gatsby, Amazing Grace, Hunter's Moon and The Mighty Casey. Michael also wrote Television scores for the Disney, Fox, Showtime, Discovery and PBS networks, and was music director for "Mister Rogers' Neighborhood" on PBS. He has conducted the Buffalo Philharmonic, Virginia Symphony, North Carolina Symphony, the Pittsburgh and Pennsylvania Ballet Orchestras and the Kennedy Center Orchestra at Wolf Trap

David Hammer, Speech-Language Pathologist for "Time To Sing!":

During my twenty-plus years as a pediatric speech-language pathologist, I have used music as a therapy "tool" to facilitate speech and language expansion. My frustration has always been that previously recorded songs for children are sung at a rate of speed that is often to fast for our many young children who are still learning to speak. Therefore, the speed of the words on this recording is intended to enable all children to sing along, regardless of their level of speech development. We hope that you find "Time To Sing!™" to be enjoyable, entertaining, and excitingly useful.
Dave Hammer, M.A. CCC-SLP
Speech-Language Pathologist, Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh
